Craig’s Story

Hi my name is Craig and today is the day I admit I’m a compulsive gambler. Today I finally admitted to my loving fiancée that we are in debt with the bank because of my gambling. She has agreed to help me and I’m also looking for help from anybody with similar stories. I have thought about suicide and want to get back on track. Help please.

    Craig,
I promised many times to my wife to stop gambling for no reason because I went on back to gambling every time. It is a first step to admit you are powerless over gambling and that your life is unmanagble. The only advice I can give you is to attend as many GA meeting as possible to continue growing in your recovery.

    Good Luck Craig

Hi Craig, well you have done the hard bit now the work starts my friend, it’s great your fiancee is going to stand by you, you have to repay the faith now by staying off gambling. I was like you, done all my money in and everybody elses as well!! I attempted to take my own life, thank God it did not work because today life is so much better now sixteen months on and that’s all down to the members and fellowship of GA. You need to find your nearest GA meeting even if its miles away still go because it works, they will give you all the advice and help you need you will find all the meetings listed on the website if you can’t find it ring the help line, they will give you all the information of the meetings. Good luck with your recovery, everyone in GA are here to help you!!

    Hi Craig,
I have today done the same thing as you and admitted to my wife that I have a gambling problem. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do and I really upset her but luckily, like you, she is going to stick by me and help me with my addiction.
I hope that we both have success in the long road ahead and I’d be happy to be in regular contact with you if you wanted to.
